  3. Once melted, add the sweetener and salt, stirring continuously.
  4. Cook the mixture until it reaches a desired caramel color, using a candy thermometer for accuracy.
  5. Quickly pour the toffee mixture onto a prepared pan before it sets.
  6. Allow the toffee to cool and harden completely before breaking it into pieces.

Notes

To store, keep the toffee in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. It pairs well with coffee.
