Description

Delicious and soft Indian flatbread perfect for pairing with various dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • Butter or garlic oil (for brushing, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, creating a well in the center.
  3. Add yeast mixture and yogurt into the well. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes until soft.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  6. Divide the dough into balls and roll out to ¼ inch thickness.
  7. Preheat a pan over medium-high heat and cook each naan for 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Optionally, brush hot naan with melted butter or garlic oil.

Notes

For extra flavors, try adding herbs or garlic to the dough. Serve with your favorite curries or as a base for mini pizzas.
